Bandon Dunes

Where to start here as so much has been written in other places.

The first time I went to Bandon Dunes was April 2001 with my Father. I was a bit slow to start to really appreciate the experience and at that point there was one course Bandon Dunes with Pacific Dunes under construction and unknow to most people a piece of property to the North of what is now Old Macdonald and would eventually be the Area 51 of Bandon known as The Sheep Ranch. In the early days if you knew someone you could get the course to yourself and play any routing you wanted and essentially all day. I played it for the first time on May 1st 2012 in the morning before our tee time for opening day of The Preserve. I later was able to play what is now the Sheep Ranch, in many ways I liked the privacy of the Old Sheep Ranch

Since my first trip back then it just keeps getting better. There are now five 18 hole golf courses, two short courses and a very large putting course complete with it’s own beer cart and staff bringing you beverages.

In order of when they were completed and opened.

Suggestions from a frequent visitor

  • Stay on property
  • Take Rain gear, it is normal to have one wet day
  • Take a caddie (they are called loopers) and listen to him or her
  • Most of all enjoy the walk
